In the 5th minute, Mariestad's Kent Tingberg seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Kent Tingberg the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Mariestad protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Kent Tingberg had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 4th minute, one of Mariestad:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mariestad. In the 7th minute there was a penalty for Röstånga RK. Gabriel Therrien stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Helge Thidén. 0-1. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mariestad's goalkeeper Helge Thidén, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Filiph Göransson might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Helge Thidén. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Filiph Göransson ran back to his position shaking his head. If Filiph Göransson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Helge Thidén showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niklas Bolin in the 20th minute of the match. The supporters of Mariestad booed when Röstånga RK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel Therrien didn't get a good kick on the ball. Egon Alkvist was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 28th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Röstånga RK's Filiph Göransson got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Roy Wester hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. If Niklas Bolin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the game, Claes Sandström was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Röstånga RK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mariestad the free kick. After 47 played minutes Röstånga RK got a freekick which was hit by Claes Sandström. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jan-Erik Nyman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Helge Thidén made an important save on a dangerous shot by Filiph Göransson in the 56th minute. 61 minutes into the game, Niklas Bolin recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Helge Thidén. Niklas Bolin showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4. In the 70th minute Roy Wester suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. In the 72nd minute, Claes Sandström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Filiph Göransson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match clock showed 79 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Filiph Göransson sped through Mariestad's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Helge Thidén. Filiph Göransson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Helge Thidén read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Filiph Göransson took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Helge Thidén. Helge Thidén dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. Filiph Göransson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Helge Thidén having to interfere. Röstånga RK's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
