The supporters of Ac Milan booed when FC GIO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronaldinho Saha didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Ac Milan getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Marcus Kellberg hit a great ball. Ronaldinho Saha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Sverker Back tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ronaldinho Saha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sverker Back having to interfere. Manu Van Den Brande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alvar Nordström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to FC GIO getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Per-Arne Josefsson hit a great ball. Sten Blomberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Manu Van Den Brande tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sten Blomberg stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sverker Back made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josef Wallin in the 52nd minute of play. Ted Zachrisson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. With a little luck, FC GIO's Manu Van Den Brande got control of the ball when Sten Blomberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ac Milan's Virila Pedrueca quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Per Billock, made in the 61st minute of the game. FC GIO's Manu Van Den Brande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alvar Nordström in the 70th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Sten Blomberg took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Manu Van Den Brande to make any attempt to save it. A collision led to FC GIO getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Per Billock hit a great ball.
