Leif Tolsson hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Allan Nässén's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leif Grelsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. Tom Eriksson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marko Bållström in the 7th minute of play. George Dahlkvist hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Bengt Karlstedt's late challenge caught a IFK Göteborg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bengt Karlstedt helped the player get up and apologised. In the 10th match minute, Östanå Bruks IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bengt Karlstedt to maneuver through the defense. Eliseo Erauso was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 12th minute. IFK Göteborg's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After a defensive mix-up in IFK Göteborg's zone, Leif Tolsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tom Eriksson came out of the goal and Leif Tolsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to IFK Göteborg getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Roger Morat hit a great ball. After 18 minutes of play, Östanå Bruks IF's Kristoffer Söderlund made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tom Eriksson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Leif Tolsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom Eriksson having to interfere. Marko Bållström struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Tom Eriksson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Östanå Bruks IF. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marko Bållström in the 36th minute of play forced IFK Göteborg's goalkeeper Tom Eriksson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Östanå Bruks IF's Leif Grelsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Östanå Bruks IF from getting a goal against them. George Dahlkvist hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Allan Nässén succeeded in the game's 48th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Allan Nässén stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Michel Alströmmer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 57 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for IFK Göteborg! With a little luck, IFK Göteborg's Tom Eriksson got control of the ball when Michel Alströmmer tried to sneak it across the goal line. With 63 minutes on the clock, Esteban Hood commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 63 minutes into the game, one of IFK Göteborg:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 66th minute there was a penalty for Östanå Bruks IF. Michel Alströmmer stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Tom Eriksson. 1-3. After having played for 72 minutes, Marko Bållström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Östanå Bruks IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marko Bållström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leif Tolsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tom Eriksson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leif Tolsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eliseo Erauso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 90 played minutes IFK Göteborg got a freekick which was hit by Roger Morat. Marko Bållström's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tom Eriksson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. In the 98th minute, Allan Nässén made a precise shot to the right of Leif Grelsson. Östanå Bruks IF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4.
