The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Svante Wallgren hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. In the 7th minute of the match Knut Grep sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kim Biörk skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Fluminense's zone, Jonny Josefsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan-Åke Eriksson came out of the goal and Jonny Josefsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lars Klementsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Krister Busk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kim Biörk having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Ljugarn's Petter Stål got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 26th minute of the match Knut Grep shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kim Biörk showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Petter Stål kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. After 28 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ljugarn! When the match clock showed 35 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Ingvar Arvidsson sped through Ljugarn's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Kim Biörk. The supporters of Ljugarn booed when Fluminense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rikard Österberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute, Fluminense's Ingvar Arvidsson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kim Biörk. Kim Biörk yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Uno Andersson to make the kick off. Lars Klementsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kim Biörk having to interfere. If Uno Andersson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 62nd minute Lars Klementsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kim Biörk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jonny Josefsson fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ljugarn's protests and gave Jonny Josefsson a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Ljugarn's Jonny Josefsson got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Lars Klementsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Kim Biörk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Ingvar Arvidsson came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Fluminense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ingvar Arvidsson couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Ingvar Arvidsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kim Biörk was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Ingvar Arvidsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kim Biörk having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lars Klementsson in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kim Biörk saved Ljugarn from getting behind. Lars Klementsson struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Kim Biörk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fluminense. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ljugarn's goalkeeper Kim Biörk, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Petter Stål's late challenge caught a Fluminense's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Petter Stål helped the player get up and apologised. 95 minutes into the match, Ingvar Arvidsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kim Biörk. Ljugarn's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ingvar Arvidsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Fluminense's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
