The supporters of Fluminense booed when West Lothian was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Boris Vennerlund didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14th match minute, West Lothian was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lukasz Ratulowski to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th minute Ingvar Arvidsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Andreasson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute, Arne Vestlund hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 27th minute, one of West Lothian:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for West Lothian. Einar Nordström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan-Åke Eriksson having to interfere. West Lothian's André Andreasson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Krister Busk in the 32nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Fluminense's zone, Matthias Nordmark stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan-Åke Eriksson came out of the goal and Matthias Nordmark tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. West Lothian's André Andreasson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ingvar Arvidsson in the 47th minute of play.

André Andreasson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ingvar Arvidsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Nils-Emil Grubb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan-Åke Eriksson having to interfere. Lukasz Ratulowski charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lukasz Ratulowski the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lukasz Ratulowski hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. In the 63rd minute of the match, Ingvar Arvidsson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but André Andreasson saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 65th minute Einar Nordström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Åke Eriksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stig Hökqvist during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to West Lothian getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Stig Hökqvist hit a great ball. In the 74th minute, Lennart Paulin made a precise shot to the right of André Andreasson. West Lothian's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. In the 79th minute, Einar Nordström ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jan-Åke Eriksson was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. In the 83rd minute of the match West Lothian got a corner. Fluminense's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Vilhelm Dahlberg ran over to the corner to take the kick. Nils-Emil Grubb was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. After having played for 85 minutes, Matthias Nordmark managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. West Lothian's supporters crossed their fingers, but Matthias Nordmark was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Matthias Nordmark took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jan-Åke Eriksson. Jan-Åke Eriksson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-3. Leonardo Kaxe kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. West Lothian had won after a very even match.
