When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Sebastian Vidman put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Bengt Tunberg. Max Åberg charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Max Åberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Max Åberg hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Gabriel Grönlund's late challenge caught a Real Göta BK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gabriel Grönlund helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Basel's Gabriel Grönlund got a free kick in the 16th minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 17 minutes into the game, when Billy Hultman put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 17th minute of the game. One of Basel:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Real Göta BK:s goal. Real Göta BK's Bengt Tunberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Vidman in the 20th minute of play. Rutger Lekberg kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. If Morgan Jakobsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gunnar Bern made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Max Åberg sent off a good shot on target. After 46 played minutes Real Göta BK got a freekick which was hit by Evert Bergqvist. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sebastian Vidman was the one to do the kick off. Bengt Tunberg came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Basel's Sebastian Vidman. But to his dismay, Sebastian Vidman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Gunnar Bern made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ola Ahlfors in the 59th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Per Åström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 62nd minute, Sebastian Vidman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 67th minute, Uno Mogren fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Bengt Tunberg, passed just outside the right post. A collision led to Real Göta BK getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Evert Bergqvist hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sebastian Vidman in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bengt Tunberg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sebastian Vidman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bengt Tunberg having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jan Landin during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Real Göta BK's Jan Landin got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Gunnar Bern showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Max Åberg in the 85th minute of the match. If Sebastian Vidman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sebastian Vidman got free with Bengt Tunberg in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 92nd match minute, Real Göta BK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Evert Bergqvist to maneuver through the defense. In the 96th minute Basel were awarded a corner. Torbjörn Alströmer went to the cornerflag to take it. Torbjörn Alströmer made a great header on Basel's corner, it was just that Real Göta BK's Bengt Tunberg managed to reach the ball for a save.
