Göran Apelqvist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Elliott Blomqvist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in FC Atwood's zone, Karl-Axel Groth stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mattias Hellström came out of the goal and Karl-Axel Groth tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Karl-Axel Groth managed to get in a good position for a shot. CFR Cluj Napocá's supporters rose to their feet, but Karl-Axel Groth was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mattias Hellström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mattias Hellström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matthias Harman in the 24th minute of play. CFR Cluj Napocá's Elliott Blomqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Göran Apelqvist in the 25th minute of play. When Karl-Axel Groth came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the CFR Cluj Napocá fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Karl-Axel Groth couldn't finish the play. 33 minutes into the match, FC Atwood's goal looked a bit too open when Karl-Axel Groth came free, but Mattias Hellström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Folke Wallin might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mattias Hellström. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Folke Wallin ran back to his position shaking his head. Knut Björk charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Knut Björk the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 35th match minute, CFR Cluj Napocá was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Knut Björk to maneuver through the defense. Folke Wallin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Mattias Hellström made a huge save. After 46 played minutes FC Atwood got a freekick which was hit by Charlie Hedman. If Folke Wallin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Karl-Axel Groth stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, FC Atwood's Göran Apelqvist sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Elliott Blomqvist narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Karl-Axel Groth put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Mattias Hellström. Karl-Axel Groth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mattias Hellström having to interfere. After a rather tough play, FC Atwood's Torgny Åström got a free kick in the 65th minute. Mattias Hellström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Folke Wallin in the 69th minute of play. Elliott Blomqvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charlie Hedman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elliott Blomqvist made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Göran Apelqvist sent off a good shot on target. Mattias Hellström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl-Axel Groth, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Mattias Hellström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matthias Harman in the 81st minute of play. FC Atwood's Mattias Hellström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Knut Björk in the 82nd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 95 minutes, Karl-Axel Groth put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Mattias Hellström. When the referee ended the match the CFR Cluj Napocá players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
