After a rather tough play, Hammarby IF's Thomas Lind got a free kick in the 2nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kjell-Arne Böcklund in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tommy Springfält saved Hammarby IF from getting behind. Kjell-Arne Böcklund fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Springfält having to interfere. Jim Dahlquist might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tommy Springfält. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jim Dahlquist ran back to his position shaking his head. 14 minutes into the match, Hestra's goalkeeper Harald Hjortberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ingvar Backman. Kjell-Arne Böcklund kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. 24 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's Kurt Nilsson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Harald Hjortberg narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hestra's Harald Hjortberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Hestra from getting a goal against them. Jens Pettersson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kjell-Arne Böcklund in the 29th minute of play forced Hammarby IF's goalkeeper Tommy Springfält to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kjell-Arne Böcklund received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Tommy Springfält tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jens Pettersson ran back to his position shaking his head. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Kurt Nilsson made the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 54 minutes, Kjell-Arne Böcklund took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Tommy Springfält to make any attempt to save it. If Jens Pettersson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pål Mattsson, 66 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Jens Pettersson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 69thth minute, Tommy Springfält skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 73 minutes into the match, Hestra's goal looked a bit too open when Kurt Nilsson came free, but Harald Hjortberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 76 minutes into the match, Jens Pettersson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tommy Springfält. Hammarby IF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jens Pettersson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Tommy Springfält showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mattias Siöberg in the 81st minute of the match. In the 86th minute, Jens Pettersson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hestra fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. With a little luck, Hammarby IF's Tommy Springfält got control of the ball when Jens Pettersson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kjell-Arne Böcklund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jens Pettersson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommy Springfält read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. Tommy Springfält tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hestra played a much better game than Hammarby IF and deserved their victory. The Hammarby IF players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
