The audience was convinced that Philip Jakobsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gösta Åkerberg was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. When Philip Jakobsson came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Bygdeå IK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Philip Jakobsson couldn't finish the play. The supporters of GIF Sundsvall booed when Bygdeå IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rickard Åström didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Bygdeå IK defense, Östen Böcklund kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anders Rönn. The Bygdeå IK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anders Rönn should have stopped the shot. Philip Jakobsson struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Gösta Åkerberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bygdeå IK. The GIF Sundsvall players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Bygdeå IK were winning 1-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Philip Jakobsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Andy Öberg's late challenge caught a Bygdeå IK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. GIF Sundsvall's Östen Böcklund got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Philip Jakobssons short, quick shot in the 71stth minute got Gösta Åkerberg to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 72nd minute Amedeo Bondi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gösta Åkerberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Boris Utter fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GIF Sundsvall's protests and gave Boris Utter a yellow card for diving instead. After 75 played minutes GIF Sundsvall got a freekick which was hit by Boris Utter. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bilgehan Ege got free with Gösta Åkerberg in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gösta Åkerberg was out of position in the 79 minute of play, and Amedeo Bondi capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Amedeo Bondi really showed his touch with that goal: 1-4. In the 86th minute, Bygdeå IK's Philip Jakobsson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gösta Åkerberg. Gösta Åkerberg yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-6. In the 91st minute of the match Otto Andersson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gösta Åkerberg skillfully saved the ball. Bilgehan Ege could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Gösta Åkerberg made a huge save. Gösta Åkerberg was out of position in the 98 minute of play, and Bilgehan Ege capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Bilgehan Ege really showed his touch with that goal: 1-7. Bygdeå IK played a much better game than GIF Sundsvall and deserved their victory. The GIF Sundsvall players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
