The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some careless play in the Smokinglirarna defense, Patrik Friberger kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christer Sundström. The Smokinglirarna fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christer Sundström should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Eleuterio Mikelar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Team Z's supporters rose to their feet, but Eleuterio Mikelar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christer Sundström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Per-Erik Örtendahl recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Patrik Hermansson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Östen Alin in the 8th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Team Z's Harry Berglund got a free kick in the 10th minute. When Smokinglirarna's Per-Erik Örtendahl in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Per-Erik Örtendahl in the 36th minute of play forced Team Z's goalkeeper Patrik Hermansson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Patrik Friberger got free with Christer Sundström in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Christer Sundström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eleuterio Mikelar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 44 minutes, Ingvar Beck mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Team Z and the Smokinglirarna players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 44 played minutes Team Z got a freekick which was hit by Ingvar Beck. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Östen Alin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrik Hermansson having to interfere. 54 minutes into the match, Smokinglirarna's goal looked a bit too open when Patrik Friberger came free, but Christer Sundström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Team Z reached it. In the 89th minute, Eleuterio Mikelar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Christer Sundström was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. If Eleuterio Mikelar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
