The supporters of Linköping booed when Vinterhagens IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Klas Dalgren didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute Ingvar Wassenius shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sivert Eriksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Vinterhagens IF's goalkeeper Mats Stålman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Thomas Melander. If Thomas Melander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Knut Wiberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 29 minutes into the match, Vinterhagens IF's goalkeeper Mats Stålman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Thomas Melander. In the 30th match minute, Vinterhagens IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gösta Lindman to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Vinterhagens IF getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Ingvar Wassenius hit a great ball. The Linköping players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Vinterhagens IF were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ingvar Wassenius to make the kick off. Thomas Melander recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Vinterhagens IF's Gösta Lindman got a free kick in the 54th minute. Mats Stålman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Knut Wiberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vinterhagens IF's goalkeeper Mats Stålman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 60 minutes into the match, Linköping's goal looked a bit too open when Ingvar Wassenius came free, but Sivert Eriksson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Knut Wiberg in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mats Stålman saved Vinterhagens IF from getting behind. When Linköping's Thomas Melander in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Vinterhagens IF's goalie prevented a goal. If Knut Wiberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 74 minutes of play, Linköping's Thomas Melander made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mats Stålman was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 83rd minute Ingvar Wassenius shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sivert Eriksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
