The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 12 minutes of play, Gunnesby United's Sven-Olof Klintæus made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The Gällnöby IF fans' excitement grew in the 18th match minute when Gällnöby IF's Nils Ekström looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Marko Källberg's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edwin Asmundsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. In the 27th minute, Gunnesby United's Jonatan Askestät seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Jonatan Askestät the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Gunnesby United protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jonatan Askestät had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 27 minutes into the game, one of Gunnesby United:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After a rather tough play, Gällnöby IF's Ove Lagerberg got a free kick in the 33rd minute. In the 35th minute of the match, Sven-Olof Klintæus tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Edwin Asmundsson saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Sven-Olof Klintæus came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Gunnesby United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sven-Olof Klintæus couldn't finish the play. After the first half Gällnöby IF were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nils Ekström stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Gunnesby United's Stig-Arne Blomqvist got control of the ball when Örjan Kolberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ingvar Askestät struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Edwin Asmundsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gunnesby United. The supporters of Gällnöby IF booed when Gunnesby United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patric Björklund didn't get a good kick on the ball. Örjan Kolberg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Stig-Arne Blomqvist made a huge save. In the 63rd minute, Gällnöby IF's John Lööf dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-4. 68 minutes into the game, Viktor Bengtsson recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Stig-Arne Blomqvist. Viktor Bengtsson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-5. After 71 minutes, Bo-Erik Nordlander mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gunnesby United and the Gällnöby IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 71st minute, Bo-Erik Nordlander hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ingvar Askestät in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edwin Asmundsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Viktor Bengtsson hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Stig-Arne Blomqvist didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Örjan Kolberg went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-7 was the resulting score. Gällnöby IF's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
