Jan-Åke Burman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henric Gunnarsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Jan-Åke Burman didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Henric Gunnarsson went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 9th minute of the match Jörn Ekgren sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jan-Åke Burman skillfully saved the ball. When Henric Gunnarsson came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Billingsfors IFK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Henric Gunnarsson couldn't finish the play. Henric Gunnarsson struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Jan-Åke Burman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Billingsfors IFK. In the 21st minute, Stellan Lilja left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Billingsfors IFK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Edward Nässén kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. 24 minutes into the match, Eskilstuna RK's goal looked a bit too open when Henric Gunnarsson came free, but Jan-Åke Burman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eskilstuna RK's Jan-Åke Burman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stellan Lilja in the 27th minute of play. Henry Eklund hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Jan-Åke Burman came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Billingsfors IFK's Henric Gunnarsson. But to his dismay, Henric Gunnarsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. In the 36th minute Björn Christoffersson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johannes Brander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ulf Bern received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Johannes Brander tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 44 played minutes Billingsfors IFK got a freekick which was hit by Otto Häger. The supporters of Eskilstuna RK booed when Billingsfors IFK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timmy Jonasson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Björn Christoffersson made a kick off. Ulf Bern sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th minute, Stellan Lilja fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jan-Åke Burman, passed just outside the right post. Henric Gunnarsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jan-Åke Burman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. Henric Gunnarsson was extremely unlucky when he, in the 73rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Billingsfors IFK's supporters rose to their feet, but Timmy Jonasson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jan-Åke Burman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 94 minutes into the match, Eskilstuna RK's goalkeeper Jan-Åke Burman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Timmy Jonasson. If Björn Christoffersson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Eskilstuna RK fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Billingsfors IFK were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
