Billy Lindqvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arne Björkkvist in the 6th minute of play. 14 minutes into the match, Södertälje FK's goalkeeper Billy Lindqvist had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arne Olsman. Kristoffer Sjödin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richard Carlberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute Richard Carlberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristoffer Sjödin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Richard Carlberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Kristoffer Sjödin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mertinho's Karl-Erik Olsson got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 35 minutes into the match, Södertälje FK's Richard Carlberg sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kristoffer Sjödin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mertinho's Arne Björkkvist got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Karl-Erik Olsson got free with Billy Lindqvist in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Billy Lindqvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charlie Algren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Arne Olsman made the kick off in the second half. Richard Carlberg struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Kristoffer Sjödin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Södertälje FK. 58 minutes into the match, Arne Olsman notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Södertälje FK's Billy Lindqvist. Billy Lindqvist was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Arne Björkkvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 62 minutes into the game, Mertinho's Arne Olsman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Billy Lindqvist made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. The supporters of Mertinho booed when Södertälje FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anders Landin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Billy Lindqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arne Olsman, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. After 70 minutes of play, Mertinho's Arne Olsman made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Billy Lindqvist was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Arne Björkkvist came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Mertinho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arne Björkkvist couldn't finish the play. Billy Lindqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arne Olsman, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Richard Carlberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Billy Lindqvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arne Björkkvist in the 89th minute of play. 96 minutes into the game, Arne Björkkvist cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Billy Lindqvist was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mertinho were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
