The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sven Galle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Olof Wennerquist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 6 minutes into the game, Motala RK's Sven Galle nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Olof Wennerquist made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Sven Galle struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Olof Wennerquist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Motala RK. Olof Wennerquist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven Galle in the 13th minute of play. Sven Galle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Sakarias Askstedt sped through Åre FK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Olof Wennerquist. After 22 played minutes Motala RK got a freekick which was hit by Kenneth Sundström. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Sakarias Askstedt put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Olof Wennerquist. In the 40th minute, Henry Gustafsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Sakarias Askstedt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Motala RK's supporters rose to their feet, but Sakarias Askstedt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olof Wennerquist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Åre FK players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Motala RK were winning 0-3.

Algot Skålberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Olle Frisk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vilhelm Bollström kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Olof Wennerquist stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sven Galle's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. If Algot Skålberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Karl-Åke Landin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Olle Frisk having to make a save. Åre FK's Olof Wennerquist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven Galle in the 95th minute of play. 97 minutes had been played when some careless play by Åre FK's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Karl Lennartsson was slow to take the kick. During this time Motala RK's players had a chance to rest. Karl Lennartsson made a great header on Motala RK's corner, it was just that Åre FK's Olof Wennerquist managed to reach the ball for a save. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Motala RK walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
