Birger Göransson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Göran Rosin in the 33rd minute of the match. Real Madrid's defense didn't have a chance, in the 36th minute, when Sven-Ove Lingren scored to the left of an out of position Egil Caspersson, making the score, 1-1. Birger Göransson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Göran Rosin went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. The Ekeby players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Real Madrid were winning 1-2.

When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Real Madrid had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
