Karl-Ove Alstedt ran back to his position shaking his head. 25 minutes into the match, Sunhultsbrunn BK's goal looked a bit too open when Kjell-Arne Elg came free, but Agne Bållström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. August Persson charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed August Persson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Sundby United FC booed when Sunhultsbrunn BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. August Persson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Melker Lindkvist was a little too slow when Göran Löfgren got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 33rd minute. The score was now 1-0. Kjell-Arne Elg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Agne Bållström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Göran Löfgren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stig Åberg stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Agne Bållström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stig Åberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 60th minute, Sunhultsbrunn BK's Olov Eklund seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Olov Eklund the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Sunhultsbrunn BK protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Olov Eklund had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 62nd minute, Sundby United FC got a penalty, and Magne Hammarbäck placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sunhultsbrunn BK's goalkeeper Agne Bållström, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sundby United FC's Stig Åberg got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 76th minute, Sundby United FC's Kjell-Arne Elg dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. After 80 minutes, Henry Wennerberg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sunhultsbrunn BK and the Sundby United FC players grew even worse after the yellow card.
