In the 6th minute of the game, Jan Simonsson landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After 6 minutes, Olle Björnberg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Östersund BK and the Liverpool FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 10th minute, Jörn Eklund got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joakim Bergstedt in the 16th minute of play forced Liverpool FC's goalkeeper Torgny Utter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emil Fors kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Magne Lidström, 19 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Alfons Barck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. In the 33rdth minute of the game Joakim Bergstedt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Liverpool FC's Torgny Utter was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 39th play minute Ronny Linquist came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Torgny Utter. 1-0. Joakim Bergstedt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Torgny Utter having to interfere. Olle Björnberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Torgny Utter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

After having played for 56 minutes, Joakim Bergstedt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Östersund BK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joakim Bergstedt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tony Backlund's late challenge caught a Östersund BK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
