Lingbo BK's Sixten Samuelsson got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Lingbo BK booed when Årsta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edwin Fagerberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stellan Lidström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 38 minutes, Dag Alén mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Årsta and the Lingbo BK players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lingbo BK's Karl-Åke Strömberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stellan Lidström in the 47th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Herman Hagberg's late challenge caught a Årsta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When the final whistle sounded Årsta left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Lingbo BK.
