The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Nils Clementsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 5 played minutes Åmål FK got a freekick which was hit by Andy Skoog. IFK Göteborg's Ingemar Karlsson got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Åmål FK booed when IFK Göteborg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nils Clementsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ingemar Karlsson hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Martin Sjödin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Åmål FK's supporters rose to their feet, but Martin Sjödin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jörn Kjellkvist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 14 minutes into the match, Åmål FK's goalkeeper Birger Berglund had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ingemar Karlsson. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Sjödin in the 20th minute of play forced IFK Göteborg's goalkeeper Jörn Kjellkvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jörn Kjellkvist didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martin Sjödin went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in IFK Göteborg's zone, Gustaf Lindgren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jörn Kjellkvist came out of the goal and Gustaf Lindgren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 0-2 became the score in the 38th minute when Filip Mossberg elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Martin Sjödin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Jörn Kjellkvist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Nils Clementsson fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored IFK Göteborg's protests and gave Nils Clementsson a yellow card for diving instead. Nils Clementsson hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. A collision led to IFK Göteborg getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Tomas Carlsson hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tord Levander made a kick off. Tomas Carlsson's late challenge caught a Åmål FK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomas Carlsson helped the player get up and apologised. Tomas Carlsson kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Martin Sjödins short, quick shot in the 59thth minute got Jörn Kjellkvist to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 61st minute Filip Mossberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jörn Kjellkvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jörn Kjellkvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaf Lindgren in the 66th minute of the match. Tord Levander received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Birger Berglund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Carlsson in the 72nd minute of play forced Åmål FK's goalkeeper Birger Berglund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Martin Sjödin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jörn Kjellkvist having to interfere. With his leg Jörn Kjellkvist managed to avoid a goal in the 76thth minute, when Åmål FK's Filip Mossberg fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 77 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for IFK Göteborg! In the 80th minute there was a penalty for Åmål FK. Filip Mossberg stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jörn Kjellkvist. 0-3. A collision led to Åmål FK getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Tom Eklund hit a great ball. 91 minutes into the match, Martin Sjödin notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of IFK Göteborg's Jörn Kjellkvist. Jörn Kjellkvist was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the final whistle sounded Åmål FK left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than IFK Göteborg.
