Spectators: 6674 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1664, VIP seats: 10) Helgum IF's Roger Andreasson started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roger Andreasson in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jörgen Ahlbeck saved Unnaryd from getting behind. In the 9th minute, Rune Fribäck got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 10 minutes into the game, Roger Andreasson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jörgen Ahlbeck was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Roger Andreasson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jörgen Ahlbeck came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Helgum IF's Rune Fribäck. But to his dismay, Rune Fribäck quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. If Magne Aleberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rune Fribäck blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jörgen Ahlbeck having to make a save. If Tommy Samuelsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Unnaryd players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Helgum IF were winning 0-2.

Christer Kihlberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Magne Aleberg's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Christer Kihlberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Magne Aleberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd minute Ian Rosin suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 62 minutes into the game, Karl-Magnus Stabbe was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Helgum IF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Unnaryd the free kick. Christer Kihlberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Magne Aleberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. After some careless play in the Helgum IF defense, Magne Aleberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christer Kihlberg. The Helgum IF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christer Kihlberg should have stopped the shot. In the 83rd match minute, Unnaryd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stellan Vennerkvist to maneuver through the defense. 88 minutes into the match, Helgum IF's Rune Fribäck sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jörgen Ahlbeck narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Helgum IF supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Helgum IF would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
