In the 23rd minute of the match Sebastian Fredriksson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sigvard Ahlberg skillfully saved the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kjell-Arne Berggren got free with Gustaf Rudqvist in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 28 minutes into the match, Kilkenny's goal looked a bit too open when Kurt Kråk came free, but Sigvard Ahlberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 34 minutes, Kjell-Arne Berggren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kilkenny's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kjell-Arne Berggren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kilkenny's Kjell-Arne Berggren got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Svante Dahlquist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustaf Rudqvist having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Sigvard Ahlberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kurt Kråk, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. In the last second Sigvard Ahlberg throw himself and got hold of the ball when Kurt Kråk in the 81stth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Kjell-Arne Berggren struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Gustaf Rudqvist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kilkenny. In the 87th minute, Edvard Albäck got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Edvard Albäck's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sigvard Ahlberg was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. Birger Nyman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Gustaf Rudqvist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Åstol BK supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Åstol BK would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
