Tomas Ekblom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tobias Siöberg having to interfere. Alf Kihlman charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alf Kihlman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 19 played minutes Hudiksvall got a freekick which was hit by Alf Kihlman. John Ekeberg who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 24thth minute tested the skills of Ragnar Örtendal when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Aston Villa FC's Kenny Boberg got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 28th minute, Alf Kihlman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Ekblom in the 29th minute of play forced Hudiksvall's goalkeeper Tobias Siöberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Ekblom in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tobias Siöberg saved Hudiksvall from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Tomas Ekblom managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aston Villa FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Ekblom was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tobias Siöberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tomas Ekblom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tobias Siöberg having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 61st match minute, Aston Villa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kenny Boberg to maneuver through the defense. 64 minutes into the match, Hudiksvall's goalkeeper Tobias Siöberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomas Ekblom. A collision led to Hudiksvall getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Jens-Ove Dahlberg hit a great ball. Evert Kalfhage recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. John Ekeberg struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Ragnar Örtendal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hudiksvall. John Ekeberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 93 minutes, John Ekeberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hudiksvall's supporters crossed their fingers, but John Ekeberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kenny Boberg kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Aston Villa FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
