After taking down the ball on Vallentuna BK's corner Yngve Sjögren fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Olof Wennerström quite easily take care of the ball. After having played for 12 minutes, Per Stenström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vallentuna BK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Per Stenström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hans Johnsson in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olof Wennerström saved Malmö FF from getting behind. Rune Åkesson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan Sjöö, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Mattias Lenberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jan Sjöö struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Rune Åkesson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Malmö FF. Max Jönsson hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. When Gilbert Björling fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vallentuna BK's protests and gave Gilbert Björling a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Malmö FF booed when Vallentuna BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilbert Björling didn't get a good kick on the ball. During the 27th minute of the match Gilbert Björling completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Gilbert Björling a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Malmö FF booed when Vallentuna BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilbert Björling didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Vallentuna BK's zone, Mattias Lenberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rune Åkesson came out of the goal and Mattias Lenberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Malmö FF's Olof Wennerström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Malmö FF from getting a goal against them. In the 42nd minute, Hans Johnsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Joseph Torsberg hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Vallentuna BK's Per Stenström got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Per Stenström managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vallentuna BK's supporters rose to their feet, but Per Stenström was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olof Wennerström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Olof Wennerström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Per Stenström in the 63rd minute of play. In the 79thth minute of the game Per Stenström who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Malmö FF's Olof Wennerström was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Per Stenström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olof Wennerström having to interfere. When the match clock showed 85 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Max Jönsson sped through Malmö FF's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Olof Wennerström. Vallentuna BK's Per Stenström got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gösta Kellman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olof Wennerström having to interfere. Per Stenström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
