The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Allan Björkkvist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. After 20 played minutes Holmsjö got a freekick which was hit by Jim Lindholm. The supporters of Holmsjö booed when Gammalkils IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sven-Olof Juhlin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th minute of the match Peter Kolberg shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sebastian Jansson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Allan Björkkvist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastian Jansson having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Torgny Frisk in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sebastian Jansson saved Gammalkils IF from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Anthon Landin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gammalkils IF's supporters rose to their feet, but Anthon Landin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicklas Österlund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Torgny Frisk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Torgny Frisk made the kick off in the second half. Torbjörn Dahlkvist might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nicklas Österlund. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Torbjörn Dahlkvist ran back to his position shaking his head. Sebastian Jansson came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Holmsjö's Allan Björkkvist. But to his dismay, Allan Björkkvist quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 68 minutes into the game, Holmsjö's Allan Björkkvist nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
