The Manchester United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Manchester United's Henry Skoog played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jimmy Svanström in the 16th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zebastian Ahlqvist in the 20th minute of play forced Manchester United's goalkeeper Henry Skoog to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Real Madrid CF's Jimmy Svanström sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Henry Skoog narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 26th minute Niclas Sundström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zebastian Haegg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the game, Manchester United's Niclas Sundström nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Henry Skoog didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Real Madrid CF. In the 40th minute Zebastian Ahlqvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henry Skoog saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Niclas Sundström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zebastian Haegg having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zebastian Ahlqvist was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Manchester United's Nils-Erik Wall got a free kick in the 55th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 62 minutes, Henry Skoog successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After having played for 65 minutes, Jan Browald managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jan Browald was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jimmy Svanström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henry Skoog having to interfere. After 79 played minutes Manchester United got a freekick which was hit by Manfred Bruse. The supporters of Manchester United booed when Real Madrid CF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isac Åberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. 92 minutes into the match, Real Madrid CF's goal looked a bit too open when Niclas Sundström came free, but Zebastian Haegg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Real Madrid CF players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Manchester United.
