Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Evert Nordlund in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Andréas Hammarbäck prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Tommy Ek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Niclas Hamberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tommy Ek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tommy Ek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th match minute, AIK Stockholm was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sven-Arne Svanström to maneuver through the defense. Charlie Qvalfeldt's late challenge caught a Genarp IK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

AIK Stockholm's Niclas Hamberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save AIK Stockholm from getting a goal against them. 95 minutes into the match, AIK Stockholm's goal looked a bit too open when Tommy Ek came free, but Niclas Hamberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Evert Nordlund fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andréas Hammarbäck having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Genarp IK walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
