Spectators: 7270 (Terracing: 5454, Seating: 1672, VIP seats: 144) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Arman Asklöv got the match started through his kick off. Floda IF's Viktor Blom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matthias Bållström in the 6th minute of play. Floda IF's Stig-Ove Jonsson got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Floda IF getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Torbjörn Damm hit a great ball. Matthias Bållström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Viktor Blom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vårgårda's Börje Gadd proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Vårgårda from getting a goal against them. If Stig-Ove Jonsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th minute, Matthias Bållström got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Björn Vinström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Börje Gadd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Börje Gadd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stig-Ove Jonsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arman Asklöv in the 41st minute of play forced Floda IF's goalkeeper Viktor Blom to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd match minute, Floda IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sakarias Bivall to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Arman Asklöv managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vårgårda's supporters rose to their feet, but Arman Asklöv was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Viktor Blom breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 45th match minute, Floda IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alf Bengtsson to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Börje Gadd made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stig-Ove Jonsson in the 52nd minute of play. If Matthias Bållström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 57 minutes into the match, Vårgårda's goal looked a bit too open when Stig-Ove Jonsson came free, but Börje Gadd reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 60 minutes into the game, Andreas Bergqvist cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Viktor Blom was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 66 minutes into the game, Stig-Ove Jonsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Börje Gadd was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Vårgårda's Börje Gadd played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stig-Ove Jonsson in the 77th minute of play. When Björn Vinström came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Floda IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Björn Vinström couldn't finish the play. After having played for 88 minutes, Stig-Ove Jonsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Floda IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stig-Ove Jonsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Stig-Ove Jonsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vårgårda's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
