The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When David Björkdahl fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Linköping United's protests and gave David Björkdahl a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th match minute, Linköping United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Björkdahl to maneuver through the defense. In the 6th match minute, Väröbacka RK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walter Esbjörnsson to maneuver through the defense. If Gösta Ahlgren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gösta Ahlgren hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Bengt-Åke Kleen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Conny Hultstrand was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Sverker Tunström kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Conny Hultstrand. That made the score 1-0 in the 20 minute of play. Aleksander Vedholm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gösta Ahlgren, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Bengt-Åke Kleen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Conny Hultstrand made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Arne Bratt sent off a good shot on target. Väröbacka RK's Aleksander Vedholm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Torsten Hult in the 28th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Väröbacka RK's goal looked a bit too open when Torsten Hult came free, but Aleksander Vedholm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Torsten Hult recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Torsten Hult struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Aleksander Vedholm didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Linköping United. Linköping United's Conny Hultstrand proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Linköping United from getting a goal against them. In the 40th minute, Robin Wall hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Väröbacka RK's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Kåre Esbjörnsson in the 43rd minute. A nice corner shot did that Kåre Esbjörnsson got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Conny Hultstrand quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Aleksander Vedholm showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gösta Ahlgren in the 45th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gösta Ahlgren stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Torsten Hult fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aleksander Vedholm having to interfere. Linköping United's Conny Hultstrand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bengt-Åke Kleen in the 56th minute of play. After 58 minutes of play, Väröbacka RK's Bengt-Åke Kleen made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Conny Hultstrand was left in no man's land by his defense there! Conny Hultstrand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bengt-Åke Kleen in the 62nd minute of play. Väröbacka RK's Aleksander Vedholm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gösta Ahlgren in the 65th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Väröbacka RK's zone, Torsten Hult stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aleksander Vedholm came out of the goal and Torsten Hult tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A hard shot 74 in the game by Torsten Hult from a close distance when the talented Aleksander Vedholm managed to make a qualified save. Väröbacka RK's players were relieved. Torsten Hult spun around in front of the goal 77 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Väröbacka RK's goal. Arne Bratt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Conny Hultstrand tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Conny Hultstrand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arne Bratt, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Conny Hultstrand took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bengt-Åke Kleen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Väröbacka RK had won after a very even match.
