Rickard Lundström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Staffan Telin having to interfere. Krister Hammarbäck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars-Erik Mårtensson in the 9th minute of play. In the 12th match minute, Fassan FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frans Nordlander to maneuver through the defense. In the 15th minute, Rickard Lundström left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Åskloster fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Lars-Erik Mårtensson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Krister Hammarbäck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Åskloster getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Krister Hammarbäck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars-Erik Mårtensson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 25 played minutes Åskloster got a freekick which was hit by Karl Pettersson. Fassan FC's Lars-Erik Mårtensson got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 30 played minutes Åskloster got a freekick which was hit by Michael Kullgren. Krister Hammarbäck made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wictor Klack in the 31st minute. 33 minutes into the game, Roland Strand was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Åskloster's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fassan FC the free kick. Krister Hammarbäck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars-Erik Mårtensson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 38th minute, Eskil Malmberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Fassan FC's zone, Eskil Malmberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Staffan Telin came out of the goal and Eskil Malmberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lars-Erik Mårtensson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rickard Lundström to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Fassan FC's Staffan Telin got control of the ball when Rickard Lundström tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Åskloster fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Krister Hammarbäck should have stopped the shot. Lars-Erik Mårtensson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 80th minute Lars-Erik Mårtensson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Krister Hammarbäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Krister Hammarbäck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kåre Lagerberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute.
