In the 10th minute Lars-Erik Mårtensson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henry Albom saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fassan FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stellan Lindström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Victor Svensson to strike the kick off in the second half. If Kåre Lagerberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rutger Lindström's late challenge caught a Fassan FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rutger Lindström helped the player get up and apologised. Rutger Lindström hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 57th minute, Gunnar Ålberg ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Staffan Telin was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Kåre Lagerberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Henry Albom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gunnar Ålberg couldn't finish the play. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
