Malcolm Sundling fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olov Nilsson having to interfere. Olov Nilsson was a little too slow when Ingvar Törnkvist got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 20th minute. The score was now 1-0. The supporters of Hedesunda IFK booed when Smedjebacken BF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anton Larsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sonny Lund got his second yellow card in the match during the 26th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Malcolm Sundling fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olov Nilsson having to interfere. 30 minutes into the game, Sven-Erik Tolsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hedesunda IFK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Smedjebacken BF the free kick. Malcolm Sundling sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Karl Ahlberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Verner Fagerberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ingvar Törnkvist's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Olov Nilsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ingvar Törnkvist in the 39th minute of play forced Hedesunda IFK's goalkeeper Olov Nilsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Ingvar Törnkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sven-Erik Tolsson was shown his second yellow card after 43 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Olov Nilsson was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Egil Göransson. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Erik Beneth to make the kick off. Olov Nilsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ingvar Törnkvist in the 74th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Ingvar Törnkvist's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olov Nilsson was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. Olov Nilsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Malcolm Sundling in the 81st minute of the match.
