He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Les Bleus reached it. United F.C's Sune Albohm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stig-Arne Olsson in the 8th minute of play. Walter Kalfhage kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Sune Albohm showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stig-Arne Olsson in the 18th minute of the match. After some careless play in the United F.C defense, Stig-Arne Olsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sune Albohm. The United F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sune Albohm should have stopped the shot. In the 21st minute, Walter Kalfhage hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Les Bleus's Stig-Arne Olsson in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Sune Albohm came out of the goal and Stig-Arne Olsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sune Albohm showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stig-Arne Olsson in the 30th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind United F.C's goalkeeper Sune Albohm, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 34th minute of the match Nils Fribäck shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sune Albohm showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Alf Söderlund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alf Söderlund in the 38th minute of play forced Les Bleus's goalkeeper Nils-Åke Collin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. United F.C's Walter Kalfhage got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Les Bleus booed when United F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kennet Dalman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alf Söderlund received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Nils-Åke Collin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Les Bleus were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Sune Albohm made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stig-Arne Olsson in the 56th minute of play. 61 minutes into the match, Les Bleus's goal looked a bit too open when Kennet Dalman came free, but Nils-Åke Collin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Walter Kalfhage fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nils-Åke Collin having to interfere. In the 65th minute Stig-Arne Olsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sune Albohm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Otto Vibjörnsson hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. In the 73rd minute Alf Söderlund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nils-Åke Collin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sune Albohm made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Alfred Biörk sent off a good shot on target. The United F.C manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Les Bleus to win.
