In the 3rd minute, Oscar Melander fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Sverker Johansson, passed just outside the right post. After 5 played minutes Spirit of Shankly got a freekick which was hit by Emil Wallin. The crowd rose to their feet as tjurarna's Oscar Melander slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sverker Johansson. That made the score 1-0 after 7 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, tjurarna's Ulf Hagström got a free kick in the 10th minute. Ulf Nyström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th minute, Ulf Hagström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Ulf Nyström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Spirit of Shankly booed when tjurarna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Börje Åkesson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 22 minutes, Ulf Hagström mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the tjurarna and the Spirit of Shankly players grew even worse after the yellow card. Spirit of Shankly's Måns Västberg couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for tjurarna. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredrik Melander in the 25th minute of play forced tjurarna's goalkeeper Per-Erik Vacker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. tjurarna's Ulf Hagström suffered a sore thigh after 29 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 29 minutes of play Spirit of Shankly's Emil Wallin was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 31 played minutes Spirit of Shankly got a freekick which was hit by Emil Wallin. Sverker Johansson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Calle Bergqvist in the 32nd minute. In the 32nd minute, Folke Danielsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 35th minute, Calle Bergqvist got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 36th match minute, Spirit of Shankly was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Folke Danielsson to maneuver through the defense. When Börje Åkesson fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored tjurarna's protests and gave Börje Åkesson a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Spirit of Shankly booed when tjurarna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Börje Åkesson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Spirit of Shankly's Fredrik Melander got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in tjurarna's zone, Fredrik Melander stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Per-Erik Vacker came out of the goal and Fredrik Melander tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Calle Bergqvist struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Sverker Johansson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for tjurarna. After 52 minutes, Jörn Nordmark mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Spirit of Shankly and the tjurarna players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of tjurarna booed when Spirit of Shankly was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jörn Nordmark didn't get a good kick on the ball. 59 minutes into the match, Spirit of Shankly's goal looked a bit too open when Calle Bergqvist came free, but Sverker Johansson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Calle Bergqvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ulf Nyström hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. After 65 minutes of play, tjurarna's Calle Bergqvist made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sverker Johansson was left in no man's land by his defense there! 69 minutes into the match, tjurarna's Calle Bergqvist sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sverker Johansson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Calle Bergqvist struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Sverker Johansson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for tjurarna. Fredrik Melander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sverker Johansson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Calle Bergqvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. In the 80th minute, Calle Bergqvist got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Calle Bergqvist took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sverker Johansson. Sverker Johansson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Börje Åkesson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Sverker Johansson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Spirit of Shankly's Måns Västberg got a free kick in the 91st minute. In the 92nd minute Calle Bergqvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sverker Johansson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 96th match minute, Spirit of Shankly was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claes Forsell to maneuver through the defense. tjurarna's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
