After 12 played minutes Mölndal got a freekick which was hit by Martin Molin. Kaj Lindholm received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Bengt-Arne Browald tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16thth minute of the game Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Undenäs's Mats Termander was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A hard shot 18 in the game by Michael Söderström from a close distance when the talented Mats Termander managed to make a qualified save. Undenäs's players were relieved. Mats Termander made an important save on a dangerous shot by Michael Söderström in the 21st minute. Mats Termander stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mats Termander having to interfere. Undenäs's Kaj Lindholm got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kaj Lindholm struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Bengt-Arne Browald didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Undenäs. Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck was extremely unlucky when he, in the 35th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 36th minute, Undenäs's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Michael Söderström fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 40th minute, Rolf Beck hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mats Termander made an important save on a dangerous shot by Michael Söderström in the 41st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Michael Söderström got free with Mats Termander in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 48 minutes into the match, Undenäs's Algot Skarkman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bengt-Arne Browald narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Algot Skarkman made a kick off. After having played for 61 minutes, Michael Söderström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mölndal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michael Söderström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mats Termander prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Kaj Lindholm's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bengt-Arne Browald read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Tomas Kinell's late challenge caught a Mölndal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomas Kinell helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Mölndal booed when Undenäs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomas Kinell didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Undenäs's zone, Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mats Termander came out of the goal and Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Michael Söderström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 73 played minutes Undenäs got a freekick which was hit by Mattias Lindström. Jörgen Klemensson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 73rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mats Termander. Undenäs's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, Mölndal's Michael Söderström sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mats Termander narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Kaj Lindholm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
