After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Birger Bocklund managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kumla IFK's supporters rose to their feet, but Birger Bocklund was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcus Andersson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 8th minute, Birger Bocklund left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Kumla IFK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After a rather tough play, Kumla IFK's Robert Boklund got a free kick in the 11th minute. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sven-Ove Fredriksson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Birger Bocklund in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcus Andersson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marcus Andersson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Birger Bocklund in the 20th minute of play. 22 minutes into the match, Kumla IFK's goalkeeper Sven-Ove Fredriksson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ulf Hedin. Andy Vik's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Sven-Ove Fredriksson firmly grabbed it by the left post. If Birger Bocklund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Äng fans' excitement grew in the 31st match minute when Äng's Ulf Hedin looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Henning Rydelius came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Kumla IFK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Henning Rydelius couldn't finish the play. Birger Bocklund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Äng getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Ulf Hedin hit a great ball. Birger Bocklund might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcus Andersson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Birger Bocklund ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 40 minutes, Henning Rydelius managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kumla IFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Henning Rydelius was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 41 played minutes Äng got a freekick which was hit by Ture Stephansson. During the 44th minute of the match Robert Boklund completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Robert Boklund a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Stenqvist was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute of the match, Axel Stenqvist tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Marcus Andersson saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line.
