MEM's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hällingsjö IK the free kick. Hans Martinsson struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Sven-Erik Kihlman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MEM. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leif Julin couldn't finish the play. Sven-Erik Kihlman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven Björkman in the 93rd minute of play. If Leif Julin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kristian Bergren scored 2-0 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Viggo Pihlwall, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
