Niklas Wallgren's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Manfred Wållander read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Niklas Wallgren took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Manfred Wållander. Gällstad IFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dan Wallgren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Magnus Dahlman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manfred Bolin having to interfere. In the 63rd minute, Gällstad IFK's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Niklas Wallgren fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 68th match minute, Gällstad IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carl Brodin to maneuver through the defense. Eric Sjöström's late challenge caught a Liverpool FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gällstad IFK's Manfred Wållander proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Gällstad IFK from getting a goal against them. Many of Liverpool FC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Liverpool FC may have spent more time on the ball, but Gällstad IFK were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
