Bernt Larsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Manfred Wållander having to make a save. After having played for 17 minutes, Dan Wallgren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gällstad IFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dan Wallgren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Vegby SK's Peter Barck got a free kick in the 18th minute. Manfred Wållander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernt Larsson in the 22nd minute of play. If Magnus Dahlman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 37th minute Dan Wallgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kjell Nordin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vegby SK's Freddie Lundström got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 43 minutes into the match, Gällstad IFK's Dan Wallgren sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kjell Nordin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Magnus Dahlman managed to get in a good position for a shot. A very good chance. After 86 played minutes Gällstad IFK got a freekick which was hit by Eric Sjöström. The audience was convinced that Freddie Lundström's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manfred Wållander was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. 91 minutes into the game, Freddie Lundström lined in a short shot 0-2 behind a frustrated Manfred Wållander. The Vegby SK supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Vegby SK would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
