IFK Torpsbruk's players were relieved. After a defensive mix-up in IFK Torpsbruk's zone, Gösta Sundström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Börje Björkdahl came out of the goal and Gösta Sundström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. IFK Torpsbruk's Börje Björkdahl proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save IFK Torpsbruk from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Gösta Sundström managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rolfstorp FK's supporters rose to their feet, but Gösta Sundström was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Börje Björkdahl breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Börje Björkdahl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gösta Sundström in the 9th minute of the match. Börje Björkdahl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gösta Sundström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 15 minutes into the match, IFK Torpsbruk's goalkeeper Börje Björkdahl had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Olle Fransson. 16 minutes into the game, Per-Olof Petersson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. IFK Torpsbruk's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rolfstorp FK the free kick. In the 19th of the match, Gösta Sundström tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Börje Björkdahl got in the way and made a wonderful save. IFK Torpsbruk's Gösta Göransson got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Per-Olof Petersson hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Gösta Sundström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Börje Björkdahl tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bengt-Åke Örtlund hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Olle Fransson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gösta Sundström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Börje Björkdahl tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Börje Björkdahl stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gösta Sundström's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. In the 44th minute, Sten Zander hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The supporters of Rolfstorp FK booed when IFK Torpsbruk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per-Olof Petersson didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Gösta Sundström put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Börje Björkdahl. Gösta Göransson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Patrik Modig tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 65 minutes, Olle Fransson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rolfstorp FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olle Fransson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Patrik Modig made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Gösta Göransson sent off a good shot on target. If Olle Fransson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 72 played minutes IFK Torpsbruk got a freekick which was hit by Sten Zander. Patrik Modig tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 81 minutes into the game, Victor Cane recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Patrik Modig. Victor Cane showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. When Gösta Göransson came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the IFK Torpsbruk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gösta Göransson couldn't finish the play. Gösta Göransson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Patrik Modig made a huge save. If Martin Liljeström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
