Spectators: 7304 (Terracing: 5479, Seating: 1680, VIP seats: 145) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jan-Ove Lundström took the kick off in the first half of the match. Torbjörn Skålberg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Frank Fernström having to make a save. When Kjell Beckman fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Idkerberget's protests and gave Kjell Beckman a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Hammarby IF booed when Idkerberget was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kjell Beckman didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Nils-Åke Ekberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Börge Granberg in the 13th minute of play forced Hammarby IF's goalkeeper Albin Broman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Nils-Åke Ekberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Hammarby IF's Torbjörn Skålberg in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Idkerberget's goalie prevented a goal. Sten Engström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Fernström having to interfere. Nils-Åke Ekberg hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Kjell Beckman hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Gösta Brovall hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Albin Broman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Börge Granberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Hammarby IF defense, Jan-Ove Lundström kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Albin Broman. The Hammarby IF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albin Broman should have stopped the shot. 43 minutes into the game, Torbjörn Skålberg recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Frank Fernström. Torbjörn Skålberg showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. Nils-Åke Ekberg's late challenge caught a Hammarby IF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nils-Åke Ekberg helped the player get up and apologised. In the 48th match minute, Idkerberget was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nils-Åke Ekberg to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Torbjörn Skålberg to make the kick off. Albin Broman made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Jan-Ove Lundström sent off a good shot on target. In the 54th minute, Torbjörn Skålberg made a precise shot to the right of Frank Fernström. Idkerberget's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Börge Granberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albin Broman having to interfere. With a little luck, Hammarby IF's Albin Broman got control of the ball when Börge Granberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Torbjörn Skålberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 70 played minutes Hammarby IF got a freekick which was hit by Torbjörn Skålberg. In the 74th match minute, Hammarby IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patric Back to maneuver through the defense. After 75 played minutes Hammarby IF got a freekick which was hit by Kjell-Arne Stålman. Frank Fernström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Torbjörn Skålberg in the 79th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Torbjörn Skålberg put it in 3-2 from a short distance just to the right of Frank Fernström. In the 96th minute, Börge Granberg left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Idkerberget fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
