Spectators: 7318 (Terracing: 5490, Seating: 1683, VIP seats: 145) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Bernt Västberg took the kick off in the first half of the match. Patric Haglund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernt Västberg in the 3rd minute of play. 5 minutes into the match, Avesta's goalkeeper Egil Trillkott had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Georg Hellström. After a defensive mix-up in Avesta's zone, Georg Hellström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Egil Trillkott came out of the goal and Georg Hellström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Georg Tinglöf recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Egil Trillkott didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Georg Hellström went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Patric Haglund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernt Västberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 22 played minutes Newtons första lag got a freekick which was hit by Georg Tinglöf. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Newtons första lag's goalkeeper Patric Haglund, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Georg Tinglöf fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egil Trillkott having to interfere. After having played for 29 minutes, Georg Hellström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newtons första lag's supporters crossed their fingers, but Georg Hellström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Esbjörn Öberg during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Esbjörn Öberg kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Georg Tinglöf in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Egil Trillkott prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Andreas Aleberg struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Patric Haglund didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Avesta. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Georg Hellström managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newtons första lag's supporters rose to their feet, but Georg Hellström was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Egil Trillkott breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 42 minutes into the match, Avesta's goalkeeper Egil Trillkott had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Georg Hellström. Newtons första lag's Patric Haglund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl-Axel Sjöberg in the 46th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Newtons första lag's goal looked a bit too open when Bernt Västberg came free, but Patric Haglund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Georg Tinglöf to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 51 minutes, Bernt Västberg took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Patric Haglund to make any attempt to save it. When Johnny Nyberg fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Avesta's protests and gave Johnny Nyberg a yellow card for diving instead. Johnny Nyberg hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. The supporters of Avesta booed when Newtons första lag was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Georg Tinglöf didn't get a good kick on the ball. Andreas Aleberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patric Haglund having to interfere. With his leg Patric Haglund managed to avoid a goal in the 83rdth minute, when Avesta's Andreas Aleberg fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Andreas Aleberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Avesta's supporters rose to their feet, but Andreas Aleberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patric Haglund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Avesta's goalkeeper Egil Trillkott, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 87th minute Georg Tinglöf shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egil Trillkott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Avesta getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Georg Holmgren hit a great ball. Georg Tinglöf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
