Spectators: 7231 (Terracing: 5425, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 143) After having played for 12 minutes, Andreas Aleberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Avesta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andreas Aleberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by William Algren in the 21st minute of play forced Avesta's goalkeeper Egil Trillkott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bernt Västberg's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jan-Ove Vennerström read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Manfred Ahlstedt during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Avesta getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Manfred Ahlstedt hit a great ball. 32 minutes into the game, Georg Lindholm was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newlajden IF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Avesta the free kick. Jan-Ove Vennerström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernt Västberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Bernt Västberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andreas Aleberg struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Jan-Ove Vennerström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Avesta. Newlajden IF's Jan-Ove Vennerström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernt Västberg in the 48th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bernt Västberg was the one to do the kick off. Bernt Västberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan-Ove Vennerström having to interfere. Egil Trillkott showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Georg Lindholm, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 60th minute, Newlajden IF's Henrik Josefsson seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Henrik Josefsson the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Newlajden IF protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Henrik Josefsson had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 59th minute, one of Newlajden IF:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Newlajden IF. Avesta's Bernt Västberg got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bernt Västberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bernt Västberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Newlajden IF's Jan-Ove Vennerström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernt Västberg in the 78th minute of play. Bernt Västberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Jan-Ove Vennerström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Andreas Aleberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match was over Avesta could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Newlajden IF throughout the match.
