Verner Boström blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Patrick Browald having to make a save. If Verner Boström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With 26 minutes on the clock, Hjalmar Kinell commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 25 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for AIK FC! Finspång's Patrick Browald played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Montenegro in the 30th minute of play. Patrick Browald showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. After having played for 35 minutes, Fernando Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AIK FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernando Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Verner Boström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Patrick Browald tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 41 minutes into the game, Olof Blom was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Finspång's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AIK FC the free kick. After 42 played minutes Finspång got a freekick which was hit by Olof Blom. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Olof Blom made a kick off. Verner Boström might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Patrick Browald. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Verner Boström ran back to his position shaking his head. Karl-Oskar Olsman made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aron Forssell in the 60th minute. Sebastian Sävström kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. If Verner Boström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Finspång's Fred Kellberg got a free kick in the 64th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Finspång's zone, Fernando Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrick Browald came out of the goal and Fernando Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Emil Blomkvist during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 71st play minutes Verner Boström shot 4-1, a short shot which went by Patrick Browald and just under the crossbar into goal. If Jaffer Al Holey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76th minute Verner Boström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Browald saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 80 minutes, Jörgen Holmgren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AIK FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jörgen Holmgren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Verner Boström in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patrick Browald saved Finspång from getting behind. Fernando Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Verner Boström scored 5-1 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Patrick Browald, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 92 minutes into the game, Aron Forssell cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-2. Karl-Oskar Olsman was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 96 minutes of play, AIK FC's Fernando Montenegro made it 6-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Patrick Browald was left in no man's land by his defense there! AIK FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
