Börje Groth's late challenge caught a Värnamo FF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Börje Groth helped the player get up and apologised. After 15 played minutes Linghem got a freekick which was hit by Börje Groth. Jack Olofsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ian Åman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. In the 19th match minute, Värnamo FF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kristoffer Nordström to maneuver through the defense. Bengt Rang received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Torsten Almqvist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Linghem's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Börje Groth was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 36 minutes had been played. The supporters of Värnamo FF booed when Linghem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Börje Groth didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ian Åman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastian Smed, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Birger Ivarsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Torsten Almqvist didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Birger Ivarsson went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Sebastian Smed sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After 60 played minutes Jack Olofsson rounded Linghem's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. 64 minutes into the match, Linghem's goalkeeper Ian Åman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sebastian Smed. If Birger Ivarsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sebastian Smed sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 77 minutes into the match Sebastian Smed climbed in front of goal and pressed up 1-2 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Ian Åman. After a defensive mix-up in Linghem's zone, Sebastian Smed stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ian Åman came out of the goal and Sebastian Smed tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice moves Sebastian Smed could shoot a difficult shot in the 84th minute, which Ian Åman however easily saved by the left post. A hard shot 85 in the game by Sebastian Smed from a close distance when the talented Ian Åman managed to make a qualified save. Linghem's players were relieved. When Fabian Mellberg fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Linghem's protests and gave Fabian Mellberg a yellow card for diving instead. Kalle Arenberg took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 96th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ian Åman. Linghem's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 98th minute Jack Olofsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ian Åman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Värnamo FF had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
