The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Anders Kjellman kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ekenässjön's zone, Tommy Dahlberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. John Bergman came out of the goal and Tommy Dahlberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sebastian Nyström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 31 minutes, Jon Lundström mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ekenässjön and the Särö players grew even worse after the yellow card. John Bergman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joar Persson in the 34th minute of the match. Conny Andersson's late challenge caught a Särö's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The referee ignored Ekenässjön's protests and gave August Haegg a yellow card for diving instead. After 46 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ekenässjön! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jan Stensson was the one to do the kick off.
