The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Ingatorp booed when Grillby FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joakim Svensson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ingatorp's Pär Stolpe couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 10th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Grillby FK. The audience was convinced that Sven-Arne Karlstedt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tommy Löv was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Alf Bergström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven-Edvin Hedvall, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Tommy Löv stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Per-Erik Gustafsson's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Josef Burman's late challenge caught a Grillby FK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Josef Burman helped the player get up and apologised. Josef Burman kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Alf Bergström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Thor Lindgren in the 25th minute. In the 31st match minute, Ingatorp was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wictor Back to maneuver through the defense. After 36 played minutes, Grillby FK's Edwin Harman shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alf Bergström came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Grillby FK reached it. Sven-Arne Karlstedt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Löv having to interfere. Tommy Löv made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Per-Erik Gustafsson in the 40th minute of play. Tommy Löv didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sven-Arne Karlstedt went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Edwin Harman hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. In the 59th minute Josef Burman managed to get in a great position but fired away a sharp shot that went outside the goal on the goalie's right hand side. It could just as well have been a goal. Grillby FK's Tommy Löv played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Arne Karlstedt in the 61st minute of play. Sven-Edvin Hedvall's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alf Bergström read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. In the 69th minute Josef Burman suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. Joakim Svensson's late challenge caught a Ingatorp's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sven-Edvin Hedvall scored 1-1 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alf Bergström, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alf Bergström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thor Lindgren in the 78th minute of the match. When Thor Lindgren came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Grillby FK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thor Lindgren couldn't finish the play. Alf Bergström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven-Edvin Hedvall in the 90th minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ingatorp fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 94th minute. Penalty!
