In the 4th minute Per-Erik Söderquist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Åke Vestberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 6 minutes into the match, Dick Borre had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sven-Erik Vester. Åtvidaberg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dick Borre was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Sandhem's defense didn't have a chance, in the 12th minute, when Per-Erik Söderquist scored to the left of an out of position Jan-Åke Vestberg, making the score, 1-1. 16 minutes into the game, Gustav Skålberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Åtvidaberg's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sandhem the free kick. After 16 played minutes Åtvidaberg got a freekick which was hit by Gustav Skålberg. After 19 minutes, Claes Damm mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sandhem and the Åtvidaberg players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 20th minute, Claes Damm hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 24th minute, Fredric Ödmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Per-Erik Söderquist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The long shot by Karl Olsmann in the 30th minute really tested Jan-Åke Vestberg's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Per-Erik Söderquist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Jan-Åke Vestberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Andreas Paulin during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Andreas Paulin kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Sandhem's zone, Per-Erik Söderquist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan-Åke Vestberg came out of the goal and Per-Erik Söderquist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 39th minute, Claes Damm got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 44th minute Claes Damm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sven-Erik Vester saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sven-Erik Vester made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dick Borre in the 45th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Per-Erik Söderquist to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Sandhem's zone, Michel Hägglund stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan-Åke Vestberg came out of the goal and Michel Hägglund tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jan-Åke Vestberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michel Hägglund in the 57th minute of play. Per-Erik Söderquist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Sandhem booed when Åtvidaberg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rutger Ahlroht didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Michel Hägglund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jan-Åke Vestberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Per-Erik Söderquist in the 76th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Åtvidaberg's zone, Dick Borre stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sven-Erik Vester came out of the goal and Dick Borre tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dick Borre could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Sven-Erik Vester made a huge save. If Claes Damm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Despite being the better team, Sandhem failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
