The audience was convinced that Sigvard Skark's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mathias Duset was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. 8 minutes into the game, Paul Rydelius was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Knivsta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lack of progress the free kick. Mathias Duset didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lack of progress. 28 minutes into the match, Lack of progress's goal looked a bit too open when Rune Drewitz came free, but Östen Larsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 38 minutes, Alex Lindholm mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lack of progress and the Knivsta players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 38th match minute, Lack of progress was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Lindholm to maneuver through the defense. Östen Larsson made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Ingvar Malmgren sent off a good shot on target. Axel Mårtensson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Axel Mårtensson to make the kick off. Bengt-Åke Söderkvist kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. 54 minutes into the match, Lack of progress's goal looked a bit too open when Rune Drewitz came free, but Östen Larsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sigvard Skark fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mathias Duset having to interfere. The supporters of Lack of progress booed when Knivsta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erland Arhenius didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Knivsta's Rune Drewitz got a free kick in the 69th minute. With a little luck, Knivsta's Mathias Duset got control of the ball when Sigvard Skark tried to sneak it across the goal line. 80 minutes into the game, Rune Drewitz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Knivsta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lack of progress the free kick. Rune Drewitz hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Mathias Duset stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Axel Mårtensson's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. After having played for 87 minutes, Sigvard Skark managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lack of progress's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sigvard Skark was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Rune Drewitz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ingvar Malmgren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Östen Larsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 93rd of the match, Axel Mårtensson tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Mathias Duset got in the way and made a wonderful save. The Lack of progress supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Lack of progress would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
