The supporters of Piteå booed when IFK Vassbotten was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfons Björklund didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 57th minute by Ivar Rolfsson got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Nils Ahlquist managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piteå's supporters rose to their feet, but Nils Ahlquist was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christopher Hökqvist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivar Rolfsson couldn't finish the play. Piteå's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave IFK Vassbotten the free kick. In the 96th minute Börje Hultin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Otto Sandell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Piteå's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
